Kicking off Friday evening are the world famous trad Irish band Dervish, one of the most sought-after acts on the live music circuit. The band’s live shows are characterised by their carefully crafted arrangements, as they subtly explore the endless rhythms and complexities that go to make great Irish music.

Saturday evening sees BBC award winning singer Emily Smith takes the stage with her band. Her voice blends delicacy with surprising power and is equally alluring whether enriched by instrumental backing or unaccompanied. Emily is an immensly talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist as well as being recognised as one of the finest interpreters of Scottish song.

The closing concert on Sunday will be an evening of dazzling music and hilarious banter from Billy Mitchell (former singer with Lindisfarne) and Bob Fox (one of North-Eastern England’s finest singer-guitarists). Having cherry-picked from their wide-ranging repertoires, this North-Eastern flavoured show features songs (including several Lindisfarne classics) celebrating the richness of life on both sides of the Tyne and beyond.

The weekend’s two Afternoon concerts are for all the family. Zulu Tradition deliver a heady mix of African harmonies, high energy athletic dancing and drumming – all traditionally costumed with their enthralling and hugely entertaining stage show on Saturday Afternoon. Followed by the once seen, never forgotten, New Rope String Band who combine superb musicianship with side-splitting comic genius spliced with beautiful acoustic music from various world traditions on the Sunday Afternoon.

Continuing the family events are free Puppet Shows and Storytelling in Peter Rabbit’s Tea Room as the Old Laundry Theatre is in the same building as The World of Beatrix Potter.
