Parking

The nearest parking to the Attraction is a public pay and display car park on Rayrigg Road.  From here simply cross the road, take the second entrance to the building – a passageway to the left straight after the steps up to the Attraction  and enter the Attraction via our new one-way system.  There is also a pay and display car park on Lake Road next to The Royalty Cinema as well as a very large car park Braithwaite Fold on the Glebe (a 10 minute walk from the Attraction).  Street parking is also available, but spaces are limited and restricted to 1 hour.  (Regarding parking: we recommend you allow yourself 2 hours for your visit to include time to see the Attraction, browse in the shop and enjoy the cafe).

Families with wheelchairs or pushchairs coming from Rayrigg Road car park can avoid the steps by taking the second entrance to the building – a passageway to the left straight after the steps up to the Attraction.  Please note this route is steep as we are situated on a hill.

Sustainable Transport

The Attraction can be reached by using public transport.  87% of visitors make their journey to the Lake District by car, but once you are here why not try the train, bus, boat or electric bike. The nearest mainline station is Oxenholme, Lake District on the West Coast Mainline going from London to Glasgow. There is a connecting train from Oxenholme Station to Windermere which takes approximately 30 minutes.  All Windermere trains connect with a local bus service which will take you the 2 miles to Bowness. Windermere Lake Cruises operate regular ferry services from Ambleside, Brockhole Visitor Centre, Windermere Jetty and Lakeside to Bowness Bay, which is a 5-minute walk to the Attraction.
