Peter Rabbit enjoys organic!

Yesterday we welcomed James Campbell from Garden Organic to meet Richard Lucas, the designer of our Peter Rabbit Garden here at World of Beatrix Potter. It’s great to talk all things organic and work together, because by caring for our gardens as organically as possible we can create a much better environment – for our families, plants and wildlife.

James was extremely impressed with our Peter Rabbit Garden in the Attraction, which is also a heritage garden growing plants that we know were growing in Beatrix Potter’s lifetime.  He was amazed at the quantity of produce we grow in our polytunnel and kitchen garden for our visitors to eat including several varieties of lettuce, rocket, oriental greens, unusual tomatoes, radish, spinach, cabbage, swiss chard and a range of herbs.  We think that our salads have to be the freshest, least polluted and with the lowest carbon footprint of any in the Lakes!

Did you know you can come and sample some of our delicious organic produce served daily with your lunch in the Tea Room?

We are also proud to be the seed guardian for the Long Scarlet Radish – the type of radish that Peter Rabbit is famously drawn crunching on which is most definitely not a carrot!  We look forward to working with Garden Organic in the future on projects to get people growing more organically.  Watch this space!
