Proposed to in the Lakes as they discover the 150th unique Beatrix Potter Ceramic Egg

Michael Stevenson and his now fiancé Helen Pipkin had come all the way from Thrapton in Northamptonshire to join in THE WORLD OF BEATRIX POTTER ATTRACTION – Where Is Peter Rabbit? Treasure Trail, with their two young children Finlay (4) and Harry (1), to search for one of the 150 special eggs hidden across The Lake District on Saturday 9 April.

10Michael had decided that The Lakes would be the perfect place to propose, so with the ring in his pocket and his youngest, Harry, in a child rucksack on his back off they went.

The day didn’t start off well, as they missed finding the first 4 x hidden eggs as they searched alongside 100s of other Treasure Hunters.

Then on the footpath to Reston Scar Staveley, Michael found what he was looking for and it turned out to be the 150th out of the 150 hand-made exquisite collectable ceramic eggs – made by local artist Sue Dunne for THE WORLD OF BEATRIX POTTER ATTRACTION Anniversary Celebrations!

Michael got down on one knee and proposed with the ceramic egg and the ring, with Harry asleep on his back! Helen was stunned but said yes!!

This is the first engagement for THE WORLD OF BEATRIX POTTER ATTRACTION and when the family arrived at the Attraction the staff quickly popped a bottle of champagne and arranged for Peter Rabbit to congratulate them!! – see attached photograph.

Michael says: “This really was a labour of love! I just thought it would be a lovely family event and I became determined as the day went on that I had to find the egg to be able to propose (we’ve been together for 12 years so it was a long time coming)!! And it all worked out perfectly if a bit muddily! We were all in shock that we found the egg and then I got down on one knee and proposed. Helen was stunned but said yes up in The Lakes. And when we arrived back at the Attraction and told the staff there, Peter Rabbit popped champagne for us! What better way to get engaged!”

Michael has now cut out the square from his jeans, to keep the muddy knee that he knelt on to propose – what a romantic!
