Peter Rabbit™ celebrates 70 years of the NHS and donates over £9,000 to local Children’s Hospice

On Thursday 5 July, the NHS turned 70, and over 1,300 visitors poured through the doors of one of the Lakes’ favourite Attractions free of charge.
Directors and Staff at the World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere celebrated the day with free entry for all, and what’s more, the admission fee that each visitor would have paid was gifted by the Attraction to the Children’s Hospice, Derian House who provide palliative care for youngsters in South Lakes & Lancashire.   The day was all about celebrating the achievements of the NHS, one of the nation’s most loved institutions and to appreciate the role it plays in our lives.

The 30-strong team of staff at the Attraction worked exceptionally hard all day, not only guiding 1300+ visitors through the exhibition but also serving free drinks & biscuits with a smile, in recognition of the extraordinary NHS staff – the everyday heroes who are there to guide, support and care for us day in, day out.

General Manager of World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Stacey McShane said: “We would like to thank all the visitors who came in great numbers on our special NHS day. They enabled us to pledge a fantastic £9,047 to Derian House Children’s Hospice which supports young people and their families from this area and the North West.  We are thrilled that the popularity of our Attraction and the success of this special event has meant that we can donate such an amazing amount of money to make a difference to as many families as possible at the Hospice.”

Judy Miller from Derian House said: “Derian House would like to say a really big thank you to everyone who visited The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction and raised vital funds on entrance fees & donations, every penny raised will go towards the care and support for our children, young people and their families, whether that’s for end of life care or respite care, thank you from all of us”
